Lieutenant Commander Arti Gaur Lamba, DDS, a 2006 graduate of The University of Texas School of Dentistry and former member of the faculty, has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding performance. Lamba serves as the assistant officer in charge of the Navy Reserve medical facility at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Georgia.
She was recognized for her diligence in the clinic’s recent relocation from mobile offices to a newly renovated and upgraded medical facility. The medal was presented Jan. 11 at the Navy Operational Support Center in Atlanta. READ MORE
Ian Healy, DDS, of The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston Class of 2013, is now an orthodontic resident at the University of Tennessee, where he and a fellow resident, Dr. Tyler Allen, gained national attention in February for breaking the world record for one-handed catches of a football in less than one minute. It was a record NFL players Odell Beckham Jr. and Drew Brees set less than two weeks before, when Beckham made 31 one-handed catches in less than a minute live on ESPN.

The pink marble-clad Dental Branch building where thousands of dental careers were launched will soon be history, but alumni, employees and students can now own a small piece of it. The former home of The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston was acquired by UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and is slated for demolition, but a limited number of small keepsakes have been carved out of the marble exterior for the UTSD community. And by receiving a piece of the past, alumni and donors will help the school’s future by seeding the new UTSD Impact Fund. READ MORE
