Volunteers from the Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston participated in the WATCH Health Fair at Sugar Land Town Center March 1. An estimated 3,000 people attended the event.
Screening participants were given referral information to the School of Dentistry and its partner clinics for comprehensive care. Upon completing the screening, participants received toothpaste, mouthwash and floss donated by sponsors Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson.
“WATCH” is an acronym for the five factors to watch (weight, activity, tobacco, cholesterol and hypertension) to prevent childhood obesity and promote healthy living choices.
The program is taught as part of the FBISD curriculum and at the community health fair.
