The Professional Resource Center (PRC) of The University of Texas School of Dentistry, established in July 2012, works to provide continuing professional support for all UTSD alumni and students in their pursuits of successful careers in dentistry. Student counseling and career planning resources are available for all dental, dental hygiene, and graduate students, as well as to all UTDB/UTSD alumni, at no charge throughout their careers. The PRC is also a repository of information and/or an advisor on dental practice opportunities, including private practices for sale and associate employment positions. Additionally, information is available for students and alumni on career opportunities in education, research, the uniformed services, public health, and government. The Professional Resource Center is co-directed by Dr. Boyd Shepherd, dentist/attorney, who is available for employment contract analysis and career counseling, and by Dr. Jerry Long, distinguished alumnus and retired dentist (46 years in private practice), who is available for practice management and career counseling.
