David E. Jaramillo, DDS, is an associate professor in the Department of Endodontics at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. Dr. Jaramillo was in endodontic practice from 1990 to 2004 and started doing faculty practice in 2004 at the Oral Health Center, Loma Linda Endodontic and Loma Linda Faculty dental office. Dr. Jaramillo is a former clinical assistant professor of endodontics at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. He was an associate professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California, where he served as Clinic Director of Endodontics and Endodontic Course Director for the International Dentist Program, and as a researcher at the Center for Dental Research.
Dr. Jaramillo actively participated in research at the Center for Biofilms under the direct supervision of Dr. William Costerton at USC School of Dentistry. Dr. Jaramillo learned the use of scanning electron microscopy and laser scanning microscopy and improved his knowledge in histological sectioning techniques. He is currently an active collaborator with the Department of Electrical Engineering/Electrophysics at USC Viterbi School of Engineering, with whom Dr. Jaramillo has published several scientific papers and one book chapter.
Dr. Jaramillo has authored and co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed, published articles, three book chapters and he is working on two more chapters for new books in the field of endodontics, plus one chapter on endodontic microbiology for a book written in Spanish.
Dr. Jaramillo has spoken at endodontic meetings for The American Association of Endodontics, The European Society of Endodontics in Rome Italy. International Federation of Endodontic Association (Tokyo, Japan), Mexican Association of Endodontics, Costa Rican Dental Association, Ecuatorian (Pichincha) Association of Endodontics, Dominican Republican Association of Endodontics, and the Asociacion Espanola de Endodoncia (Madrid, Spain).
