Dr. Storthz is Professor Emerita in the Department Of Diagnostic and Biomedical Sciences. During her fulltime academic career, she served on numerous committees at the local and national level, as a regular manuscript reviewer for leading cancer research journals, and mentored 47 students in pursuit of advanced degrees. She served as Associate Dean for Research for 13 years while maintaining her own research program. Her research interests have focused on cancer. Her laboratory was one of the first to show that human papillomavirus is associated with head and neck cancer. She has garnered over 3 million dollars of extramural research support and has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers. As Professor Emerita, Dr. Storthz continues to maintain a funded research program and teach in her areas of expertise.
