Dr. Sam Dorn is a professor and director of postgraduate endodontics at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, where he also served as chair from 2009 to July 1, 2015. Dr. Dorn received his DDS from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry and served in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. Previously, he was an adjunct professor of endodontics at the University of Florida in addition to maintaining a private practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was also the founding director of postgraduate endodontics at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Dorn is a past president of the AAE (2002-2003), and also has served as a director on the Association's Board of Directors. He is a past director and officer of the American Board of Endodontics and past and current Trustee of the AAE Foundation. He has been president-elect of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations. He is a diplomate of the ABE and fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Dorn has authored many articles and textbook chapters, and lectured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
In 2013, he was the recipient of the Coolidge Award for Lifetime Achievement, the highest award presented by the American Association of Endodontists.
