Dr. Gary Badger is chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, where he also directs the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program Director. He is a consultant to and past president of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is currently a member of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Houston Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the American Dental Association College of Diplomates.
Dr. Badger served in the U.S. Army and retired as a full colonel. During his military career, he was appointed pediatric dentistry consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General (twice) and as consultant in pediatric dentistry for the U.S. Army-Europe Commanding General. In Texas, he was employed by Scott & White Health Care System as a pediatric dentist for six years before entering private practice in College Station for 13 years. Prior to joining the UTSD faculty, he taught at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, The University of Louisville in Kentucky, the Medical College of Virginia, and in the U.S. Army Pediatric Dentistry Residency.
In 2016, Dr. Badger became the first holder of the Catherine M. Flaitz, DDS, MS, Professorship in Pediatric Dentistry.
