Dr. Sarah “Jody” Welch received her dental degree in 1987 from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus, Ohio, and continued her dental education by completing a General Practice Residency at Cleveland Metropolitan General/Highland View Hospital in 1988. Between 1988 and 2004, Dr. Welch practiced general dentistry. During this time, she actively pursued her continuing education to provide excellence in dentistry and in 1995 received her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2001, Dr. Welch joined the faculty of Louisiana State University School of Dentistry as a part-time clinical professor and in 2004 became a full-time assistant professor and clinical course director for the Department of Restorative and Biomaterials. Currently, Dr Welch serves a part-time faculty in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Texas, Health Sciences Center at Houston, School of Dentistry.
Dr. Welch’s experience in esthetic and restorative dentistry provides a rich background and passion for the maintenance of the natural dentition. This passion for excellence led Dr. Welch to again further her education and become an endodontic specialist. In 2009, Dr. Welch received her Certification in Endodontics and Master of Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dental Branch. She has earned her the designation of Diplomate, American Board of Endodontics. She maintains membership with the American Association of Endodontics, American Dental Association, New Mexico Dental Association and the Eastern New Mexico Dental Society. She has organized a new Eastern New Mexico Study club that brings together dentists and specialists in eastern New Mexico and west Texas.
Dr. Welch has been married to her husband, Arun, a computer enterprise architect, for thirty years and they have one daughter, Maya. In her spare time, Dr. Welch enjoys Sudoku, yoga, Thai Chi and walking and is an avid reader.
