The UT School of Dentistry has a growing number of scholarships available from a wide variety of organizations and philanthropic sources. Competitive academic scholarships are available for freshman dental students. These scholarships are made possible through generous donations from the UTSD Alumni Association, The Mu Mu Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society, the Greater Houston Dental Society and many others.
Although most scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and/or financial need, it is not unusual for the sponsors to have other stipulations. For example, the Daniel C. Kamas Memorial Fund Scholarship requires the designation of one male and one female recipient per year. All applicants to the entering class are considered
Scholarship recipients are determined by the Scholarship Sub-Committee of the Dental Admissions Committee, contingent on approval by the Admissions Committee and the dean. Most scholarships are awarded annually as funds are available from the supporting organizations or donors.
