Continuing education course for dentists and dental hygienists, presented by Charles Hoopingarner, DDS; Juliana Barros, DDS, MS; and Shalizeh "Shelly" Patel, DDS. Participants will learn about the history of laser technology and the various types of dental lasers, including diode, erbium and CO2 lasers, their applications and limitations. Also covered: tooth preparation, Phase I periodontal therapy, minor oral surgeries; fundamentals of laser operation, tissue interaction and laser safety. Participate in hands-on demonstrations and understand specific interactions with biologic tissues. CREDIT HOURS: 4 lecture, 3 participation. AGD CODE: 135 Laser Therapy/Electrosurgery COURSE NUMBER 2013160. FEE: $325 for dentists; $245 dental hygienists. Continental breakfast and lunch included. Dentists will need to bring these materials for the hands-on session: Scalpel, periosteal elevator, tissue forceps, periodontal probe and 3-4 extracted teeth mounted in stone (optional).
