Orikasa receives 2023 Young Investigator Award from ASBMR

Shion Orikasa, DDS, PhD, a research fellow in the Ono Bone Laboratory at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, has been named a 2023 recipient of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research’s Young Investigator Award.

The Young Investigator Award is presented to young investigators who are the first and presenting author of the highest-ranking abstracts within each category submitted for the ASBMR Annual Meeting. Orikasa was recognized Oct. 14 during the 2023 ASBMR Annual Meeting in Vancounver, British Columbia, Canada.

Orikasa was selected in the “Chondrocytes” category for his abstract presentation, titled “Hedgehog activation promotes osteogenic cell fates of growth plate resting zone chondrocytes.” He was one of 50 awardees of the Young Investigator Award.

The Ono Bone Laboratory is under the direction of Noriaki Ono, DDS, PhD.
