UTSD Alumni Association names Abilene dentist Distinguished Alumnus of 2019

The UTSD Alumni Association has named Glen D. Hall, DDS ’75, of Abilene as Distinguished Alumnus of 2019, presenting the award at the association’s annual gala at the Petroleum Club in Houston.
Hall was one of eight nominees from around the state, including:
- Jeff Brunson, DDS ’00, of Austin
- Linda Burke, DDS ’94, of Harlingen
- Sloan Hildebrand, DDS ’00, of Dallas
- Duc “Duke” Ho, DDS ’96, of Katy
- C.D. Johnson, DDS ’86, MS, of Houston
- John Kelley Jr., DDS ’97, MS ’99 of Fort Worth
- Scott Makins, DDS ’80, MS, of Bryan.
After graduation from dental school, Hall entered the U.S. Air Force and completed a General Practice Residency at March Air Force Base in California. He served two additional years as an Air Force dentist stationed at Malmstrom AFB near Great Falls, Montana. He has been in solo general practice in Abilene since 1978.
An expert on rules of order, Hall has been a leader in organized dentistry at the local, state and national levels, as well as in his community. He has won President’s Awards from both the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association and has been a nominee for the Academy of General Dentistry’s Dentist of the Year Award. He is a former speaker of both the ADA and TDA House of Delegates.
In addition, Hall has been parliamentarian of the ADA Board of Trustees and served on the Council of Dental Benefit Plans, the Code Revision Committee, and the TDA’s Council on Dental Care Programs. He is a member and past president of the Abilene Wednesday Rotary Club, and a former member of the Southwest Rotary Club and the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He is also a member and former board member of the UTSD Alumni Association.
