The Young Laboratory at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry is working with oral surgeon James Melville, DDS, to study the relationship between COVID-19 and macroglossia among patients who underwent intubation. Simon Young, DDS, MD, PhD, associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, and Melville spoke with the Houston Chronicle in May 2021 about ongoing research on nine COVID-positive cases. The two are working alongside resident Victoria Mañón, DDS, who is serving as research coordinator. The study is entitled, "Genomic and Histological Analysis of COVID -19 Massive Macroglossia."
