Assistant Professor Raha Naderi, RDH, MEd, has been named UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry’s director of community outreach. She previously served as interim director since July 2023.

Naderi joined the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene faculty in 2021 after practicing as a dental hygienist in the Houston area for 12 years. Prior to joining full time, she served as a volunteer — assisting in clinic four days a week — during the fall 2020 semester while pursuing her master’s degree in education at the University of Houston, which she completed that December.

Naderi is a 2009 graduate of the School of Dentistry’s Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program.

She serves as the master of ceremonies for the annual Dental Hygiene White Coat Ceremony and is the faculty advisor for the Student Chapter American Dental Hygienists’ Association.

In 2021, Naderi was recognized with the Lorna J. Bruning Award for Outstanding Teaching.

A delegate for the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association, Naderi chaired the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Association educational programs and served as trustee before being elected as first vice president for the 2023-24 term.

She is a member of the American Dental Education Association, American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and the Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas.
