Hanau "Occludor" Articulator Produced c.1921

Designed By:
Rudolph L. Hanau

Manufactured By:
Hanau Engineering Company, Buffalo, NY

US Patent:
Not Patented

Description:

When the Hanau Model “C” was purchased, the Occludor was included as a part of the equipment package. Its exact function remains somewhat of a mystery; however, it may have been a centric holding device for sending cases to a participating laboratory to avoid the necessity of buying several Model “C” articulators. Also included in the articulator accessory “package” was a facebow, cast mounting devices and an alternative incisal guide.

Dr. Edgar N. Starcke's articles in the Journal of Prosthodontics have more information on the history of articulators.
