Description:
The Stanley articulator is a single hinge articulator but with a unique feature. It has a strong horizontal band-spring axle and a posterior vertical stop pin resting on a 30 degree A-P guide plate. This is a manual grinding mechanism that utilizes hatched thumb and finger plates for pushing the upper cast holder in both an anterior - posterior and side to side directions.
Dr. Edgar N. Starcke's articles in the Journal of Prosthodontics have more information on the history of articulators.
