This course is designed to satisfy the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) 12 hour requirements for RULE §108.12 to treat obstructive sleep apnea.
Synopsis: This course will examine the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of sleep-disordered breathing and is meant to introduce dental practitioners to the field of dental sleep medicine. We will have a detailed discussion on patient selection, examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management of the sleep apnea patient using oral appliance therapy (OAT). The hands-on component the dentist will construct a bite record and make a trial oral appliance on each other. You will leave with the confidence to pursue treating patients with sleep breathing disorders.
