Advanced Seminar on Dental Sleep Medicine: Complications, Combination Therapy, and More

Synopsis: This advanced course will focus on Oral Appliance Therapy's impact on Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Join us to review real-life, evidence-based case reports of patients with Parkinson's disease, Fibromyalgia, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), mild to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and partial and fully edentulous without implant retention. Prior to taking this course, we recommend having experience in clinical Oral Appliance Therapy. Doctors wanting experience in a Dental Sleep Medicine practice are encouraged to attend.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the medical co-morbidities and consequences of sleep apnea
  • Distinguish different types of Oral Appliance Therapy complications and how to manage these complications (particularly regarding the TAP oral appliance system) 
  • Know what to look for in the pediatric and adult population for airway issues 
  • Understand treatment outcomes of the ADD/ADHD epidemic
  • Learn how to read pulse oximetry reports and sleep studies and how to discuss these tests with patients
  • Know when and how to use Combination Therapy with an Interface and nuances of its implemtation.

Credit Hours: 8 lecture hours: 730 Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis, Oral Pathology (Sleep Medicne)

Course Fee: $225 - Dentist or Allied Dental Personnel
