More than 100 students and alumni from across UTHealth’s six schools gathered for a kickoff reception of the Alumni Student Network.

The Alumni Student Network is a student-led organization that provides students the opportunity to connect and network with alumni through events, lecture series, and other projects.

The kickoff event was held on Sept. 4 at The Denton A. Cooley, MD and Ralph C. Cooley, DDS University Life Center, with Joya Chandra, PhD, as the keynote speaker. Her address spoke to her experience as a student at MD Anderson UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and as an associate professor in pediatric cancer research at the school.

Several deans were in attendance as well including UTHealth School of Dentistry Dean John A. Valenza, DDS; Cizik School of Nursing ad interim Dean Diane Santa Maria, DrPH, MSN, RN; and McGovern Medical School Dean Barbara J. Stoll, MD.

For more information on the group and how to join, contact Taressa C. Visor, director of UTHealth School of Dentistry's PACE Center at Taressa.C.Visor@uth.tmc.edu.
