UTHealth School of Dentistry to host blood drive June 22

With National Give Blood Day in June, UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston will host a blood drive in conjunction with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 22.

Donors must be at least 18 years old and present valid ID. Appointments are strongly encouraged and may be made online.

More than 800 donations per day are needed by patients in the Texas Gulf Coast region. One blood donation can help save up to three lives.

UTHealth School of Dentistry routinely holds blood drives throughout the calendar year. At its March 2 date, 32 units of blood were collected, which will be used to save 96 lives. Additional blood drive dates in 2021 are as follows:

  • Friday, Sept. 24
  • Monday, Dec. 6

UTHealth's Miscellaneous Leave Policy (HOOP 185) allows paid time off for eligible employees to donate blood up to four times per fiscal year. Documentation is required.
