The American Dental Education Association has installed Ryan Quock, DDS, of UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston as chair of the ADEA Board of Directors for 2020-21.

A 2005 alumnus of UTSD, Quock is a distinguished teaching professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.

In a news release, ADEA said Quock’s vision for the organization over the year leading up to the 2021 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition is “We”—a theme that could not be more meaningful than it is today as we navigate the COVID-19 crisis.

“He celebrates the diverse contributions of our faculty, administrators, students and partners, noting, ‘We are, collectively, weaving an organic story that is ours uniquely to tell. We are creating the future of dental education right before our very eyes.’”

Quock is involved with peer-reviewed publications, both as an author and reviewer. He also served in faculty governance at UTHealth and has chaired the UTHealth InterFaculty Council. On the national level, he has been actively involved with the American Dental Education Association throughout his career.

In 2018, Quock won a University of Texas System Regents’ Award for Outstanding Teaching, and he was inducted into the University of Texas Kenneth I. Shine, MD Academy of Health Science Education. At the School of Dentistry, he is a member of the Dean’s Academy of Distinguished Scholars.
