Have you seen the BCycle station outside of our building? BCycle has 14 stations in the Texas Medical Center, and the bikes are perfect for short trips to and from:
- UTH Housing & Rec Center (1 minute)
- University Center Tower (6 minutes)
- TMC Commons (8 minutes)
As a UTHealth student, faculty or staff member, you can get an annual membership with BCycle for just $60. Your membership comes with unlimited trips. (Any trip that goes over 60 minutes carries an overage fee of $3 per 30 minutes).
BCycle has 109 stations and 700 bikes for you to use — check out the full map here, and visit this page on the BCycle website to view your UTH discount code and sign up in minutes. Most of the bikes are standard pedal-yourself models, but electric bikes are available for an additional $3 surcharge.
BCycle spokesman Henry Morris is encouraging everyone to check out the bikes and give them a try.
“If you’re not ready to commit to a membership, you can test out a bike as a guest user for $3 per 30 minutes at any station,” he said.
BCycle also offers group rides, which have been popular with wellness groups and social organizations. For more information, contact him at 713-865-3662 or hmorris@houstonbikeshare.org.
