Two dental students receive Alliance of the Texas Dental Association scholarships

Third-year dental student Umar Malik spoke at the Alliance of the Texas Dental Association Luncheon during the annual TDA Meeting in San Antonio.

UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry third-year dental students Umar Malik and Andrew Samaan have received $4,100 from the Alliance of the Texas Dental Association, an organization comprised of spouses and family members of TDA dentists.

The scholarships were announced during the association’s luncheon May 9 at the annual TDA Meeting in San Antonio.

Malik and Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Services Ralph A. Cooley, DDS, a delegate to the Texas Dental Association House of Delegates, spoke at the luncheon. Samaan was unable to attend the event.

The mission of the Alliance of the Texas Dental Association is to provide support for the spouses of TDA members through education, fellowship, and service, and to foster the positive image of organized dentistry, working in partnership with the association.
