School of Dentistry alumna joins cast of ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Season 2

UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry alumna Terri L. Alani, DDS ’81, will appear as one of 23 women vying for love on Season 2 of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor.”

The cast was revealed Tuesday, Sept. 4. Alani, a practicing cosmetic dentist in Houston, appears as contestant No. 22 on the official list.

Known as the “Texas Tooth Lady,” Alani has built a career in cosmetic dentistry that has spanned four decades. She is recognized for her expertise in veneers, teeth whitening, and other procedures designed to transform smiles.

Beyond her private practice, she has reached patients and the public through television appearances, a long-running radio show, national lectures, and an active social media presence. Her videos on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram have drawn millions of views.

Alani graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University before earning her dental degree at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry in 1981, where her classmates included Dean John A. Valenza, DDS. She has since become a sought-after lecturer on cosmetic procedures such as Snap-On Smile and Lumineers. Alani has served in leadership roles with professional organizations, including the Greater Houston Dental Society and the Texas Dental Association.

Outside of dentistry, Alani is known for her adventurous spirit. She taught herself ventriloquism as a child, has traveled the world solo, completed a polar plunge in Antarctica, and is an avid fitness enthusiast and nature photographer.

Alani is one of 23 women competing for a rose and the chance to find love with Golden Bachelor Mel Owens, a 66-year-old former NFL player and practicing attorney.

Season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor” premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24, on ABC.
