Authors recognized with 2025 IADR/AADOCR William J. Gies Award

UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry authors Chiaki Arai, DDS, PhD; Yuki Arai, DDS, PhD; Amy Tran, dental student; Madelynn Salinas, research assistant; Yuta Nakai, DDS, PhD; Shion Orikasa, DDS, PhD; Wanida Ono, DDS, DMSc, PhD; Noriaki Ono, DDS, PhD; received the 2025 William J. Gies Award for Biological Research.

The authors were recognized for their research paper, titled “A PTHrP Gradient Drives Mandibular Condylar Chondrogenesis via Runx2,” published in the January 2024  Journal of Dental Research.

The Gies Award, given by the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, comes with a $1,000 monetary prize and a commemorative plaque.

The award recognizes the best paper published in the Journal of Dental Research during the preceding year and is supported by J. Morita Corporation.

The authors will be formally recognized on June 25 at the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research’s 103rd General Session and Exhibition in Barcelona, Spain.
