Dr. Thomas C. “Tommy” Harrison, a graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry (DDS 1979) and the Rawls School of Business at Texas Tech University (MBA 2009) is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry (UTSD). At UTSD, Dr. Harrison serves as Course Director for the third-year dental students Practice Management Course. He is also a Practice Consultant in the PACE Center at UTSD, as well as a member of the Faculty Senate, the Dean’s Admission’s Committee and a member of the MOSAIC Team.
Dr. Harrison was an owner in a private group dental practice in Katy, Texas for 39 years (1979-2018) and still has a private office at the dental practice he used to own.
He has served in numerous leadership positions in organized dentistry;
Among the many awards Dr. Harrison has received during his career, the Texas Dental Association Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service (May 2017) is his highest achievement. It is the highest honor bestowed by the TDA. In addition, he has been nominated three times by the GHDS (2004,2014, 2022) for the prestigious Texas Academy of General Dentistry Dentist of the Year.
He is married (44 years) to Dr. Mary Sue Harrison (AuD) who is the owner of two private audiology practices in Katy and Sealy, Texas. The Drs Harrison are the proud parents of two adult daughters (Katie Comer and Jill Bennett) two sons-in-law (Jason Comer and Andrew Bennett) and are grandparents to four precious grandchildren (Amy and Aubrey Comer and Emma and Harrison Bennett).
