Dr Craig Pearl qualified as a fellow of the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery through the University of the Witwatersrand College of Medicine in 2005, cum laude, and went on to complete a master’s degree in the branch of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in 2006, with distinction.

He received the South African Society of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons Gold Medal for outstanding results in the fellowship examination of the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons of South Africa. He also received the Michael and Janie Miller Registrar Prize for best examination results among all surgical specialist disciplines in the Department of Surgery at University of the Witwatersrand.

Always passionate about trauma and patient care, Dr. Pearl qualified as a firefighter in 1993 and worked as firefighter and medic, even after qualifying as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He organized and served on a rescue mission to Phuket, Thailand following the 2004 tsunami.

Dr. Pearl is certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support and has been an instructor since 2001. In addition to trauma, his interests include orofacial pain, TMJ, and headache management. He completed a fellowship at Headache Clinic of South Africa in 2015.

He enjoys implantology, especially fully edentulous cases, and has successfully completed more than 150 immediate loading protocols (teeth within a day).
