Biosketch
Dr. Sepi Carvounis is a native Houstonian who graduated from Stratford High School before attending the Honors Program at the University of Houston. She joined UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2018.
Prior to her academic appointment, Dr. Carvounis practiced general dentistry in the Houston metro area beginning in 2010. As a National Health Service Corps Scholar, she served as a general dentist at Good Neighbor Healthcare Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, from 2010 to 2015. There, she pursued her passion for serving underserved populations in Houston. She then continued on with public health alongside private practice up until joining UTHealth in 2018.
In addition to her dedication to public health dentistry, Dr. Carvounis is deeply committed to academic dentistry. She finds great fulfillment in teaching and mentoring the outstanding students she works with daily in the clinic.
Dr. Carvounis currently resides in Houston with her husband, a vitreoretinal surgeon, and their five children.
