Hannah K. Medrano, is an accomplished dental professional with a wealth of experience in both clinical practice and education. She currently holds the position of assistant professor in the Dental Hygiene Program within the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD).

With a passion for education, Hannah's journey in academia began in 2014 when she started teaching as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Houston Community College, Coleman College for Health Sciences, situated within the Texas Medical Center. Since then, she has been actively engaged in teaching students in both clinical and didactic settings, fostering an open and collaborative learning environment.

Before joining the UTSD faculty in 2020, Hannah dedicated her time to volunteering at the SOD for one year, showcasing her commitment to giving back to the dental community. Over the course of her ten-year career, she has honed her skills and expertise in various dental settings, including periodontics, general dentistry, community clinical settings, corporate dentistry, and pediatric dentistry.

Hannah's dedication to the field extends beyond her teaching and clinical practice. She has actively participated in state and local dental hygiene organizations, holding the position of GHDHA Trustee in the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Association (GHDHA) from 2021-2024. She has been an instrumental member of numerous committees, contributing her knowledge and insights to furthering the profession. Her involvement with the Texas Dental Hygienists Association has included contributions to the Governmental Affairs Committee, Student Affairs Committee, and Professional Development Committee. As a delegate for the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association (TDHA), she remains connected to her professional community and continues to engage with other dental hygiene educators through affiliations with the Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas (DHET), American Dental Education Association (ADEA), and The Texas Oral Health Coalition.

Hannah's dedication to community service is evident through her active involvement in events like Sealant Day, Give Kids a Smile, and Veteran's Dental Day. Her commitment to reaching out to the community and promoting oral health awareness has made a positive impact on the lives of many.

A 2011 graduate of UT Health School of Dentistry, Hannah is determined to further her expertise and contribution to the field by pursuing a Masters' in Education from Sam Houston State University, focusing on Instructional Systems and Design Technology.
