Hannah K. Medrano, B.S.D.H., R.D.H. is an associate clinical professor in the Dental Hygiene Program of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD).   Prior to joining the UTSD faculty in 2020, she volunteered at the SOD for 1 year.  Her clinical dental hygiene practice includes a variety of settings over the past 10 years, working in periodontics, general dentistry, community clinical settings, corporate and pediatric dentistry.   She began teaching in 2014 at Houston Community College, Coleman College for Health Sciences within the Texas Medical Center as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor where she continues to teach in clinical and didactic settings. 

She has held positions at state and local dental hygiene levels, including the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Association (GHDHA) as GHDHA Trustee from 2021-2022 and has served on various committees since 2017.   State activities with the Texas Dental Hygienists Association includes Governmental Affairs Committee, Student Affairs Committee and Professional Development Committee.   She has been a Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association (TDHA) delegate and is affiliated with the Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas (DHET), American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and The Texas Oral Health Coalition.

She is committed to an open and collaborative learning environment with students and encourages community outreach participation.  She has participated in many community service events herself including Sealant Day, Give Kids a Smile and Veteran’s Dental Day. 

She is a 2011 graduate from UT Health school of dentistry and is currently pursuing a Masters’ in Education from Sam Houston State University with a focus on Instructional Systems and Design Technology.
