Anahita Mortazavi, BSND, BSDH, RDH, MEd. is an assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD). She has been a dedicated educator and clinician in dental hygiene for over 13 years, specializing in periodontal therapy and oral health education.

She earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston and her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Texas Dental Branch. Earlier, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Texas School of Allied Health at Houston.

Before joining UTSD in 2019, she was a clinical instructor at Coleman College for Health Sciences in Houston. Her clinical expertise includes non-surgical periodontal therapy, patient education, nutritional counseling, and integrating evidence-based practices in dental hygiene.

She had presentations at the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Association and Shine MD Academy of Health Science Education. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Dental Education Association, the Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas, and the American Academy of Laser Dentistry.

She has been recognized with the Lorna J Bruning Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in 2022.
