Dr. Gargi Mukherji is an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Simulation at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. Upon graduation from residency, she worked in private practice for 10 years prior to joining academia and pursuing her passion for teaching. She also has been active in seeing patients throughout the community in the UT Dentists faculty practice twice a week.
Her specialty interests include the treatment of medically compromised patients. She is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support instructor. In 2013, Dr. Mukherji was a recipient of the Dean’s Excellence Award for Teaching and Innovation and recently in 2022 was the recipient of the Dean’s Excellence Award in Mentoring. She along with her colleague Dr. Ralph Cooley are inventors of “Airway Armor” – a safety device to help prevent accidental aspiration of foreign objects in the oral cavity.
She is actively involved with the American Dental Education Association and has presented at numerous dental conferences. In addition, Dr. Mukherji has served as a reviewer for more than 300 peer-reviewed journal articles on oral surgery, oral medicine and oral pathology.
