Assistant Professor Nguyen joined the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at UTHealth School of Dentistry in 2023. Prior to joining UTSD faculty, she practiced clinical dental hygiene since 2017 and taught as a Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor at Lone Star College.
She has earned an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Lone Star College. In addition, she has earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and Master of Science in Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University.
Her commitment to community service has led her to volunteer her services at San Jose Clinic, as well as various dental events that serve our veterans and underserved community. She believes that high-quality care should be accessible to everyone.
Professor Nguyen is a member of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas (DHET), and Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association (TDHA). She has previously served as a co-advisor for the Student Chapter American Dental Hygienists’ Association (SCADHA).
In 2024, Professor Nguyen received the Lorna J. Bruning Award for Outstanding Teaching, which recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional knowledge and competence towards effective learning.
Through continued research and education, she is dedicated to making a positive impact in the dental hygiene profession.
