Sumayyah King, RDH, MS, is an Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene Program of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD). Prior to joining the UTSD faculty in 2022, she practiced clinical dental hygiene for 5 years and taught clinical dental hygiene for 3 years in Ohio.
Professor King graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Notre Dame College of Ohio and later in 2016 with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Lakeland Community College. Inspired by the educators in her dental hygiene program, Professor King began the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene program at the University of Michigan and started teaching clinical dental hygiene at Lakeland Community College. In 2020, she graduated with a Master’s of Science in Dental Hygiene.
