Biosketch
Dr. David Colmenar earned his BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin (2016) and his DMD from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine in Portland, Maine (2020). Under the mentorship of Dr. Takashi Komabayashi at UNE, he authored two peer-reviewed journal articles on endodontic sealers. Following two years of general practice in Dallas, he earned his MSD and Certificate in Endodontics from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry (2024). After completing residency, Dr. Colmenar immediately returned to the Department of Endodontics as faculty, and he also maintains private practice in Houston. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2025.
Originally a Southern California native, Dr. Colmenar enjoys spending time with his wife, a fellow endodontist, and their newborn son and border collie. He is also an avid musician, and performs regularly with local Houston bands.
