Three-Year Degree Program
The Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics is a 36-month program leading to a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science degree. The curriculum prepares residents for clinical practice, academic careers, and research, offering comprehensive training in prosthetic dentistry, restorative implant therapy, occlusion, and dental materials.
During the first year, residents focus on foundational didactic coursework and clinical prosthodontics to build essential skills.
The second year emphasizes increased clinical activity and reduced classroom time. Training includes rotations at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and a teaching rotation at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, along with research opportunities at Bering Omega Dental Clinic.
The third year centers on advanced clinical treatment, participation in specialty seminars, and completion of the master’s degree requirements. Residents may pursue the Master of Science degree in Oral Biomaterials through McWilliams Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UTHealth Houston or a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics through the School of Dentistry.
