Alumna Le appointed to CODA Review Committee on Oral Medicine Education
Huong Le, DDS ’84, MA,
UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry alumna Huong Le, DDS ’84, MA, has been appointed to the Commission on Dental Accreditation’s Review Committee on Oral Medicine Education. Her four-year term began in October 2025 and runs through October 2029.
The committee operates under CODA to evaluate and update educational standards for advanced oral medicine programs, ensuring continued quality and improvement in dental education nationwide.
Le serves as chief dental officer at Asian Health Services in Oakland, California, a position she has held since 2003.
She is a member of the California Dental Association Board of Directors and has held numerous leadership roles in professional and public health organizations. These include service as president and vice president of the Dental Board of California, as well as board positions with the Western Clinicians Network and the Alameda County Dental Society.
Her career has been marked by innovation and advocacy in community health. Le spearheaded integrated care initiatives for depression and diabetes screening — recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration as a best practice — and developed telehealth and drive-thru fluoride varnish programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her many honors include the American College of Dentists Northern California Section William Fleming Award (2015), the ADA Presidential Citation (2014), and the Myron Allukian Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association of Community Dental Programs (2020).
Le is a leadership fellow with Northwestern University, sponsored by the American College of Dentists Foundation, and a fellow of the American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and International College of Dentists.
