UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry alumnus David B. Chambers, DDS ’82, has been appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry, with his term running through Dec. 31, 2028.
The board’s mission is to protect the public by regulating the professions of dentistry and dental hygiene in Louisiana in accordance with the state’s Dental Practice Act. Chambers said serving on the board is an opportunity to help the state improve health care for the people of Louisiana.
A native of Houston, Chambers graduated from the School of Dentistry (then The University of Texas Dental Branch) in 1982. He practiced in his hometown for 12 years before moving to Lafayette, La., where he continues to practice. He also maintains an active Texas dental license.
Chambers obtained his Louisiana dental license in 1993 and began practicing there in 1994. His Lafayette practice focuses on general dentistry, prosthodontics, implant restorations, endodontics, and the detection and treatment of periodontal disease. He has also volunteered his services with the local charity 232-HELP.
He remains active in organized dentistry as a member of the Louisiana Dental Association, the Acadiana District Dental Association in Lafayette, and the American Dental Association. His appointment was confirmed by Gov. Jeff Landry on March 11, 2024.
