Students from the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry DDS Class of 2026 celebrated Match Day as they received their Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program results, discovering the residency programs where they will further their skills and clinical expertise.

Five School of Dentistry students matched with programs during Phase I of the match, followed by 13 students in Phase II. Five School of Dentistry alumni also received residency matches.

Students and guests gathered to support the landmark achievements in a fourth-floor celebration with refreshments and photo opportunities on Jan. 21.

Continuing her educational journey at the School of Dentistry, Chloe Colville, orthodontics residency candidate, says matching with her current school allows her to maintain a sense of familiarity while still challenging herself to grow in the field.

“One of the primary reasons I had the wish to remain at the School of Dentistry for my orthodontic residency is the strong community within the department,” she said. “I’m honored to continue my training here and to collaborate closely with the faculty and peers who I’ve built meaningful relationships with over the past four years.”

Trevor Pilhal shared a similar sentiment after receiving his oral and maxillofacial surgery match. He said the school’s strong sense of community influenced his choice to remain part of what he describes as a supportive and collaborative environment.

“Being in the Texas Medical Center with the training I would get for OMFS was one of the best that I’d ever seen from all the interviews and externships I’ve been on,” he said. “The people treating these patients are incredible. It’s obvious they have a huge heart and really prioritize patient care.”
