Faculty, staff, students, and residents at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry wore pink on Wednesdays in October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout October, the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry community wore pink each Wednesday to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month and show support for those affected by the disease.

Observed annually, Breast Cancer Awareness Month promotes education about breast cancer, encourages early detection, and highlights the importance of research and support for patients and survivors.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer, and can also affect men. Mammograms can detect breast cancer before it is large enough to feel or cause symptoms. Individuals should consult their health care providers about screening recommendations based on their age, medical history, and personal risk factors.

Through the month-long initiative, faculty, staff, students, and residents helped raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
