School of Dentistry refreshes endowed lecture series displays

UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry has refreshed its fourth-floor hallway with four new displays highlighting the history and impact of its endowed lecture series.

Located between the Student Center and the Ahn Classroom, the displays feature the Jack R. Winston, DDS Professorship Lecture in Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, established in 1981; the Claude L. Nabers, DDS, MSD and Blanche Eaton Nabers Visiting Professorship in Periodontics, established in 2008; the Song Ahn, DDS, Endowed Lecture on Implants, established in 2022; and the William T. Butler, PhD Lectureship Fund, established in 2018.

Each display includes the full name of the endowed lecture series, its establishment date and purpose, information about the person it honors, and a photo when available. Speaker histories also recognize the distinguished dental and health sciences leaders who participated in each lecture series and the year they participated.

The Winston Professorship Lecture series has featured speakers since 1983, while the Nabers Visiting Professorship has featured lecturers since 2009. The Ahn Endowed Lecture on Implants has featured speakers since 2023, and the Butler Lectureship has featured speakers since 2016, including leaders in oral and craniofacial research.

The displays use 40-by-60-inch silver snap frames with backplates for added stability and clear protective covers that help protect the displays and provide a clean, polished appearance. The format also allows speaker lists and other information to be updated as the lecture series continue.

The redesigned displays provide an updated look while preserving the history of the School of Dentistry’s endowed lecture series and the speakers who have contributed to them.
