"Millerator" Denture Grinder, c. 1970's

Designed By:
Leslie E. Renner, et al, of Sacramento, California

Manufactured By:
Motor manufactured by the Bodine Electric Company.

US Patent:
Unknown

Description:

Documentation accompanying the discovery of the "Millerator" would indicate that this model was probably a home-made prototype of a grinding machine planned to be patented. The idea, but certainly not the mechanism, was inspired by the House Articulator. For example, the maxillary denture produces the grinding motion while the mandibular denture is stationary. The two-speed motor is activated by pulling the white knob located on the right end of the front plate. The grinding pattern on the denture teeth is elliptical and is produced by reciprocal or “seesaw” action of the controls in the “condylar” positions.
