Center for Teaching and Learning

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CT&L) at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry advances excellence in dental education. As one of the first centers of its kind in the nation, the CT&L supports new and experienced faculty through workshops, seminars, and consultations that strengthen teaching, mentoring, leadership, and scholarship. 

Key Responsibilities and Areas of Focus

  • Professional Development in Classroom Teaching: Offers evidence-based strategies for course design, assessment, academic integrity, and engaging diverse learners.
  • Clinical Teaching Excellence: Provides training in evaluation methods, adult learning frameworks, and techniques to guide students in patient care and decision-making.
  • Building Scholarly Portfolios: Assists faculty with case reports, abstracts, teaching philosophies, publications, and the use of electronic health records (EHRs) in research and education.
  • Evidence-Based Dentistry: Delivers tools and training to evaluate clinical evidence, strengthen research literacy, and integrate best practices into dental education.
