Roberts represents United States at Global Clinical Case Contest

Andrew Roberts, DDS ’24, presented his photo-documented, anterior indirect esthetic restoration case at the Global Final of Dentsply Sirona Global Clinical Case Contest in early July.

Roberts, winner of the North American Region, presented his restoration case to an international panel of judges in the field of restorative and esthetic dentistry on July 2 in Konstanz, Germany.

He was one of 10 global finalists, selected from a diverse field of students representing 127 school across 20 countries.

Roberts expressed gratitude for being recognized for completing one of the best-looking restorations from students around the world.

Despite not landing in the global top three, Roberts gained exposure and was able to meet with colleagues from across the globe who also share a passion for restorative dentistry. Having just graduated in May with the rest of the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry Class of 2024, he begins his dental career with internationally-recognized case experience.

Magda S. Eldiwany, DDS, MS, clinical professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, was Roberts’ faculty mentor for the contest.

The GCCC is a global initiative to support and promote talented dental students from all over the world best prepared for clinical practice. Dental undergraduate and graduate students, with less than two years of clinical practice, are invited to participate by documenting a patient case with photographs and text.

Since its inception in 2004, more than 6,500 dental students have participated in the GCCC, and this year marks the first representation from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry in the international competition.
