Online Application
Application Deadlines
Applications for the on-campus BSDH programs will be available online starting April 1st and ending August 31st. To be considered for the incoming class, applicants must apply one year prior to the August start date. All transcripts and supporting documents for admission to the Dental Hygiene Program must be sent to UTHealth Office of the Registrar by Aug. 31 of the year preceding expected enrollment. The Admissions Committee begins reviewing applications in October until all positions are filled. All prerequisites must be completed by May 31 prior to the start of the fall semester. Applicants will be notified of their standing by June 15.
Shadowing Requirement
Applicants must complete at least 20 hours of shadowing with a dental hygienist (shadowing a dentist will not fulfill this requirement). Shadowing documentation must be submitted by the August 31st deadline. Complete the Shadowing Form.
Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required: two from professors and one from an employer, submitted using the institutional form. These must be submitted by the August 31st deadline.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
If the applicant did not attend high school in the U.S., the TOEFL is required unless the applicant holds an associate degree or higher from a U.S.-accredited institution. TOEFL results must be submitted by the August 31st deadline.
Acuity Insights
All applicants are required to complete the Casper test as part of the Acuity Insights Assessment. Casper is a situational judgment test (SJT) that lasts approximately 90-110 minutes and is conducted online with open-response questions.
Please note, there are only three available test dates for the Fall admission cycle:
- Wednesday, May 14, 8:00 PM (CST)
- Tuesday, August 5, 8:00 PM (CST)
- Thursday, September 4, 8:00 PM (CST)
The test fee is $60.
