Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinical Services

The Katz Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery provides inpatient and outpatient services across multiple clinical sites. Outpatient care — including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant rehabilitation, outpatient anesthesia, oral pathology biopsies, and non-surgical management of temporomandibular disorders — is offered at the School of Dentistry, Scurlock Tower, and other affiliated clinics within the Texas Medical Center.

Inpatient care focuses on the management of complex cases such as facial trauma, major head and neck infections, benign and malignant disease management, correction of dentofacial abnormalities, surgical treatment of temporomandibular disorders, and reconstruction of facial defects using vascularized and non-vascularized techniques, occurs at our six teaching hospitals.

All treatment is performed under the guidance and supervision of our highly qualified teaching faculty. The breadth of clinical exposure ensures residents meet or exceed the surgical experience requirements established by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
